ATATÜRK'S THOUGHTS ON TURKISH WORLD

Today, The Soviet Union is our friend. We value this friendship. However, no one today can predict the events of tomorrow. This empire, just as the Ottoman Empire, and the Austria-Hungarian Empire, can be crumbled. Tomorrow the world may face new balances. Just then, Turkey must be aware of her future actions. Under this friend's jurisdiction, we have brethren who has with us a common language, a common faith, and a common essence. We must be prepared to own up to them. To be ready is not silently sitting idle. It is necessary to be prepared. How do nations prepare themselves for such a state? By building their spiritual bridges firmly in advance. Language is a bridge. Faith is a bridge. History is a bridge. We must reach out to our roots, and we must once again unite as one whole in our joint history which various past events have disrupted. We must not wait for them to approach us. The initiative ought to come from us.
